Who Else Noticed that Kim K's Engagement Ring Is, Um, Smaller This Time Around?

After Monday night's news that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finally got engaged, we knew it was only a matter of time before the first photo of Kim's engagement ring surfaced.

Moments after Kanye proposed, Kim took to Instagram and posted this image of the 15-carat diamond ring sparkler.

The ring-snapped in front of West's endeeearing large-screen proposal and simply captioned, "YES!!" (note the spelling: "Pleeease Marry Meeee!"), above-is arguably quite modest compared to Kim's previous engagement ring from Kris Humphries, a combined 20.5-carat design composed of a 16.21-carat emerald-cut center stone flanked by 1.8-carat side stones.

Incidentally, it was reported that Kim helped pay for her second engagement ring. It recently sold at auction for $620,000, which means Humphries recouped roughly a little more than one third of the original retail price.

We kind of love that Kim went for a "less is more" philosophy (if you can call 15 carats "less") this go-round by ditching the side stones. Although, it's really hard not to compare the two-they were both designed by the same jeweler, Lorraine Schwartz, and sport sizable rectangular center stones.

A rep for Lorraine Schwartz told E! News that West personally helped design Kim's ring. "The ring is flawless. Not just internally flawless, it's flawless," the rep added. "It's a D-stone, the best diamond there is, type 2A. It's a perfect cushion-cut diamond."

For Kim's sake, let's just hope that a big, strong rock will make for a solid, long-lasting marriage!
